Woman Gets Deferred Prosecution for Sex Assault - Updated

Free Image hosting by ImageSnap(Chilton, Wisconsin) Yesterday, Calumet County Judge Donald Poppy accepted a deferred prosecution agreement in the sexual assault case against 20-year-old Kristina N. Schwoerer.

Schwoerer admitted to engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy after a high school dance.
Kristina N. Schwoerer of Brillion is required to complete a sexual perpetrator’s assessment and follow through with treatment recommendations, have no contact with the victim and have no sexual contact with males under 18.

She will also be tested for HIV, hepatitis B and sexually transmitted diseases.

The agreement struck by Dist. Atty. Ken Kratz and defense attorney Ann Larson was approved Wednesday by Calumet County Judge Donald Poppy. The agreement means the case is held open for two years, and will be dismissed if Schwoerer has no further violations in that time.
In my opinion, it would seem more appropriate to have the sexual perpetrator's assessment completed before making a determination of deferred prosecution. And, although it's likely not unusual, I think it's curious that a 20-year-old woman was apparently attending a high school dance. She should be moving on with her life.
