Florida Teen Blasts Intruder

(Vero Beach, Florida) Sometime early Thursday morning, a 25-year-old local man, Thomas "T.C." Thompson, was fatally shot after he broke into a home where a mother and her two sons resided.

"The female resident woke up with him standing at the foot of the bed with a knife in his hand. She screamed," said Detective Chris Cassinari, who is investigating the case for the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.

When he saw the intruder, deputies say one of the sons, a 19-year old, picked up a shotgun and fired - killing Thompson on the spot.

Friends say Thompson was having money troubles.

It's ironic that the decision to break into a defended home resulted in the elimination of all of Thompson's troubles.
