Illinois Woman Convicted But No Sentence for Sex with Boy

Free Image hosting by ImageSnap(Vienna, Illinois) A 36-year-old Johnson County woman, Crystal Pietrowski, was convicted of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for having sex with her son’s 15-year-old friend. Yesterday, Pietrowski was scheduled to be sentenced.
As a convicted sex offender, Crystal Pietrowski was required to undergo an evaluation before her sentencing, and it was supposed to include a test assessing the likelihood that she will offend again.

But there was one problem-- her gender.

"There are no such tools for females" says Johnson County State's Attorney Tricia Shelton. "As a matter of fact, each of those tools that are required to be used specifically exclude being applied to females."

The assessment test was not done, but Pietrowski's lawyer says that too is against the law.

"It discriminates against her" says Johnson County Public Defender Alan McIntrye. "If we had continued with that hearing, the sentencing could have been illegal because a required part of that assessment was not there."

McIntyre says he's just looking out for his client, but Shelton says Crystal Pietrowski is a danger to the public.
Consequently, the sentencing hearing has been rescheduled to November 10. It’s not clear how they plan to have an assessment performed.
