Idaho Teacher Gets 180 Days in Jail in Sex Case - Updated

(Boise, Idaho) For conviction on one count of sexual battery of a minor, former Borah High School teacher Michelle Farley was sentenced by Fourth District Court Judge Timothy Hansen to 180 days in jail along with a suspended 10-year prison term. Farley will be on probation during the 10-year term of suspension.

The married mother of two initially denied the allegations and tried to paint the victim as a liar. Farley later admitted developing a crush on the teen, buying him gifts and bringing him to her home to engage in sex on numerous occasions between May and October of 2008.

Judge Hansen also barred Farley from having any contact with male juveniles while on probation and ordered her to complete sex offender treatment. She also was ordered to register as a sex offender in the state of Idaho.

Idaho Teacher Guilty of Sex with Student - Update

(Boise, Idaho) In accordance with a plea deal, 40-year-old former Borah High School teacher, Michelle Farley, pleaded guilty last Friday to engaging in sex with a male student.

Farley was charged with eight counts of sexual battery with a minor late last year. In the deal, Farley pleaded guilty to just one count. Prosecutors say the sex acts did not occur on school grounds.

They will recommend Farley be sentenced to a year in jail, be on probation for 10 years and register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 19.

Idaho Teacher Arrested for Sex with Student

(Boise, Idaho) A 40-year-old psychology teacher at Borah High School, Michelle Ward Farley, was arrested yesterday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 17-year-old male student. Farley faces two counts of sexual battery.

Boise police were contacted early Thursday by someone reporting a possible pattern of sexual contact between Farley and a teenage male that began in May 2008. Detectives investigating the report found evidence of a crime and arrested Farley by 8:30 p.m.

Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Jean Fisher said Farley admitted to Boise police when she was arrested Thursday to having had sexual contact with the boy.

Farley was booked into custody at the Ada County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
