WV Woman Gets 30 Days for Sex Assault of Boy

(Princeton, West Virginia) In June 2006, a 35-year-old church supervisor, Mindy Faye Keesecker, was sentenced in the Circuit Court of Mercer County to 3 to 15 years in prison for the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy. Defense counsel vowed to appeal the case.

In April 2008, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia overturned Keesecker's conviction and remanded the case for a new trial. A reversible error was deemed to have been made by the prosecution during the trial.

Last month, now 37-year-old Mindy Keesecker pleaded guilty at retrial to two counts of first-degree sexual assault in accordance with a plea deal.

Today, Keesecker was sentenced to 30 days in jail, five years of probation and registration as a sex offender for 10 years..

Prison terms of one-to-five years were suspended.
