(Miami, Florida) A 23-weeks-pregnant South Florida woman, Sycloria Williams, went to the A Gyn Diagnostic Center in Hialeah to have an abortion, however, the doctor was late, she went into labor and a baby was delivered.
According to reports, one of the clinic owners, Belkis Gonzalez, cut the umbilical cord, placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and then threw the bag in the trash.
As a result, Ms. Williams is suing Haitian-trained Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique for malpractice and the Florida Board of Medicine has revoked his license. Details of the reported episode are gruesome.
Dr Renelique did not arrive in time - and, according to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labour and delivered a live baby girl.Charges may be filed if prosecutors can prove that the baby, named Shanice, was born alive.
Then, Ms Williams and the Department of Health claim, one of the clinic's owners - who has no medical licence - cut the infant's umbilical cord.
Ms Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic bio-hazard bag and threw it out.
Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.
An autopsy revealed air in the baby girl's lungs - proving that she was born alive and breathing.
'I don't care what your politics are, what your morals are, this should not be happening in our community,' said Tom Pennekamp, a Miami attorney representing Ms Williams in her lawsuit against Dr Renelique and the clinic owners.
