(Islamabad, Pakistan) Say goodbye, the secular court system in Pakistan looks to be going away.
Pakistani pro-Taliban cleric Sufi Muhammad demanded the government abolish conventional justice in the northwestern Malakand area by April 23, replacing it with Islamic courts, or face a new round of protests.I guess when one has a special kind of justice, conventional justice is simply unacceptable.
“All the courts including the Supreme Court are not Islamic,” Rizwanullah Farooq, Muhammad’s son, said by telephone today, speaking on behalf of his father. “We don’t want these judges and we do not recognize them as they are preachers of unholy laws.”
