Golfer Dies After Falling in Hole

(Abira, Hokkaido, Japan) A 38-year-old homemaker, Takae Gassho, died during a round of golf when she disappeared into a sinkhole.

Reportedly, a hole at least six feet in diameter had opened in a section of turf and Gassho fell in. She dropped at least 15 feet to the bottom, landing face-down in a large volume of water. Gassho was removed from the hole about 30 minutes after emergency workers arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Freak occurrence, for sure.
