Bias Alleged at BBC

The BBC has been charged with being biased in favor of the British National Party (BNP), the far-right wing, whites-only UK political party.
Anti-fascist campaigners Searchlight launched a formal complaint with BBC director general Mark Thompson after a series of broadcasts which, the organisation said, broke strict election rules on impartiality.

Searchlight said the BBC was claiming the BNP were the main beneficiaries of the "anti-politics" sentiment caused by the MPs expenses scandal, when in fact the UK Independence Party and the Greens were ahead of the far-right party in the polls.
A spokesman said the BBC "is obliged to treat all political parties... with due impartiality." Therefore, the allegations of bias are strongly contested.

So, it appears that the British left is complaining that the right-wing BNP is getting some sort of positive press. In all candor, I'm surprised. The BNP is usually beat down regularly by the BBC. Surely, it's a hiccup and the BBC will soon get back to being the collectivist house organ known and loved by UK liberals.
