Alabama Teacher Guilty of Failure to Report Child Abuse

(Gadsden, Alabama) A 32-year-old teacher formerly at Gadsden City High School, Amanda Alldredge, pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and failure to report child abuse as required by Alabama law.
Alldredge failed to report a sexual relationship between a student and a teacher. As part of that investigation, it was discovered that Alldredge bought alcohol for a minor, unrelated to the other incident.

Alldredge failed to report that she knew of an alleged relationship between former teacher and baseball coach Nicholas Keith Smith and a student.

Smith, 26, was charged with second-degree rape and possession of obscene material after it was discovered he was having sex with a student who was 15 years old at the time the relationship began.
According to District Attorney Jimmie Harp, sentencing of Alldredge will depend on her behavior in the near future as she is monitored by the Etowah County Community Corrections Authority.
