Argument on Race

(New York City) A 59-year-old black architecture professor at Columbia University, Lionel McIntyre, was arrested yesterday for sucker punching a female Columbia theater department production manager, Camille Davis, at a Harlem bar. McIntyre has been charged with assault.

The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about "white privilege" with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said.

A male bar patron yelled, "You don't hit a woman!" and McIntyre turned and cold-cocked him.

Reportedly, the incident is not the first time McIntyre has squabbled in public with Davis over racial issues.

McIntyre was booked and released without bail last night.
