Tennessee Teacher with Troubles

(Dickson, Tennessee) A kindergarten teacher at Oakmont Elementary School, Tina Darlene Young, has been arrested multiple times for shoplifting and driving under the influence resulting in a call for an investigation by the school board to assess her suitability to teach. Young's rap sheet displays six arrests, three of them DUIs.
This fall while on lunch break in Dickson, she stole wrinkle cream from Wal-Mart. She said she did it under the influence of dextromethorphan, an ingredient found in a certain cough syrup coveted by people suffering from anorexia.

“As long as I’m not taking that drug, I won't do that again, ever ever ever,” said Young. “You just don't know what my life has been like knowing I did these things. It’s been awful.”

Young said she wants all Dickson parents to know that she is dedicated, loving teacher, fully realizing that she has lost their trust.
Young's alcohol consumption led to a divorce and loss of her three kids. Currently, she awaits prosecution on two separate shoplifting charges and a decision by the school board regarding her job.
