UK Doctors Accused of Cheating on Taxes, Amnesty Offered

(UK) Apparently some doctors and dentists in the United Kingdom are believed to be cheating on their taxes.

As a result, the HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) has announced a limited tax amnesty for those doctors and dentists who failed to declare income.
HMRC have now gone through two amnesty programmes in relation to offshore bank accounts, the second of which follows the G20 summit last year when co-ordinated international pressure was brought to bear on offshore banks to provide the UK and other tax authorities with details of their clients.

It is only a matter of time before the Revenue catch up with the evaders.

Medical practitioners who have succumbed to temptation would be well advised to come clean on a voluntary basis with the Revenue now before they find that it is themselves, and not their patients, who are under the microscope.
Amnesty with a threat sounds somewhat desperate. Heh.
