Woman Indicted for Smuggling Drugs Under Postage Stamps

(Rogersville, Tennessee) A 35-year-old local woman, Tammy Sue Mallory, has been indicted for allegedly smuggling drugs to her husband, Henry Lyons Mallory Jr., 37, who is in the Hawkins County Jail.

She faces four counts of introduction of a controlled substance into a penal institution.
The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office said that on four occasions between Feb. 15 and March 15 Tammy Mallory sent her husband a letter to the jail with drugs hidden under the postage stamps. Deputy jailers reportedly became suspicious of lumps under those stamps and turned them over to the Narcotics Unit.

In one case the indictment alleges she attempted to smuggle 0.05 grams of Diazepam under the postage stamps.

The other three indictments didn’t specify amounts but did specify the type of drugs allegedly found under the stamps, including Alprazolam, Buprenophine and marijuana.

Tammy Mallory was arrested on the sealed indictment Friday and was released on $30,000 bond.
Notably, both Mr. and Mrs. Mallory were arrested and indicted previously for methamphetamine charges. Those charges remain to be adjudicated.
