Eatery Requires Eating Vegetables

(Sydney, Australia) Yes, just like your mother used to do, a restaurant named Wafu in a Sydney suburb makes you clean your plate or next time you'll be sent to another restaurant.

I'd guess that the establishment sits in a liberal conclave of do-gooder, save-the-planet Kool-aid drinkers. Good luck with the policy of sending customers away.

Frankly, with or without sustainability on the planet, it's difficult enough for a small restaurant business to succeed and it's made much more difficult by turning away customers.

Also, it would seem that a property rights issue is involved. If one purchases a plate of food, ownership is transferred to the buyer who should have the right to do as desired with the purchased food. If the customer wants to throw away the food, it's his/her right to do so.

Then there are also civil rights implications. If a business is open to the public, does it have the right to discriminate against people who don't eat their vegetables and clean their plates?

One last thing. This whole questionable policy is based on a blanket assumption that the food served at the restaurant is edible. It's a stretch to suggest that all meals at all times are worth eating. And we all know how often the kitchen or service staff has screwed up an otherwise perfectly good meal.

I'd recommend avoiding the Wafu restaurant.

[Add.] According to this source, Wafu serves up sushi and vegetarian cuisine that is guaranteed to be gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free, MSG-free and refined sugar-free. Honestly, I didn't need any additional reasons to not frequent Wafu but there they are anyway.
