Maria, the Goat, Shot and Killed

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) Police seek a goat killer.
Animal Protection of New Mexico is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed a pet goat in a Santa Fe neighborhood.

The shooting the evening of Sept. 12 killed Maria, a Nigerian dwarf goat who lived with two other goats and other animals at the home.

Witnesses told police a man in a blue-green minivan drove up to the fenced yard where the goats are kept and fired three shots, hitting the animal twice.

Authorities recovered .25-caliber bullet casings.
The suspected killer is believed to be 35 to 45 years old.
