California Teacher Gets Hand Slap in Sex Case - Updated

(Vallejo, California) In court this week, former Angelo Rodriguez High School English teacher Felecia (aka Felicia) Killings, 28, pleaded no contest to a felony charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and was sentenced.

According to Solano County Deputy District Attorney Andrew Ganz,
As part of Killings' plea agreement, she will not register as a sex offender. The agreement was reached through the pre-trial process and negotiations, according to Ganz.

Killings was sentenced to 30 days in county jail but may qualify to serve alternatively, which often includes house arrest.

Ganz said Killings was "not given any special break" and the agreement was an "appropriate resolution."
Ironically, it's possible that Killings could simply be sent home, the scene of the crime, for 30 days and ordered to wear an ankle monitor. No special break? Really? If the sentence were any more lenient, it should come with a Certificate of Achievement.

California Teacher Faces Trial in Sex Case - Updated
[Previous 9/14/11 post]
(Vallejo, California) Former Angelo Rodriguez High School English teacher Felecia (aka Felicia) Killings, 28, appeared in court yesterday and said she had been blackmailed by her 16-year-old victim into engaging in a months-long sexual relationship.

Despite her explanation, Superior Court Judge John Allen ruled that Killings should stand trial on felony rape charges. Killings faces six felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
[Killings] told police she began sleeping with the student at her Vallejo apartment only because he had threatened to tell school authorities they'd been flirting with each other.

She further told police the student demanded money, sexy photos of her as well as A's in her class when he should have gotten F's for not doing any work.
The student has denied Killings assertions. Another court appearance is scheduled for September 26.
