False Rape Accusation

(Lake Arthur, Louisiana) A 17-year-old female, Megan Franks, has been arrested for falsely accusing a Lake Arthur Police Officer of raping her. Franks filed a complaint in February and an investigation was launched.

Physical evidence and the inconsistent statements Franks provided to investigating troopers indicated a rape did not take place, say police.

Officers say that during an interview, Franks admitted to making up the rape allegations and injuring herself to be more credible.

Franks was booked into custody at the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail. She faces a possible five years in prison if convicted.
