(Sheboygan, Wisconsin) A 45-year-old prison nurse formerly at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution, Laurie A. Blum, has been convicted of engaging in sex with an inmate.For conviction of felony second-degree sexual assault by correctional staff, Blum was sentenced by Sheboygan County Circuit Judge Timothy Van Akkeren to three years of probation.
Van Akkeren ordered that Blum serve 40 hours community service as a condition of probation.The prosecution had recommended six months in jail along with probation.
The crime of which she was convicted requires lifetime registration as a sex offender, but Van Akkeren placed a hold on that requirement pending an appeal.
