California Teacher Allegedly Gave Students Chloroform
[Previous 5/25/11 post]
(Livingston, California) A 34-year-old chemistry teacher at Livingston High School, Japhia Smith Huhndorf, was arrested Monday for allegedly helping three students inhale chloroform using a towel.

Huhndorf faces charges of felony child endangerment.
Police say the 34-year-old teacher helped three male students at Livingston High School inhale the anesthetic at least three times over the past five months. They say it happened during after-school study hall sessions.

Sgt. Ray Fong says investigators believe Huhndorf first ordered the chloroform this year but did not use it in her curriculum.
The students are 16, 17 and 18 years old and they reportedly inhaled the chloroform simply to get high. Huhndorf was booked into custody and subsequently released on bail.
