(Albuquerque, New Mexico) The multi-state online prostitution story now includes another academic, former University of New Mexico President F. Chris Garcia.
Police said Garcia, 71, and Fairleigh Dickinson professor David Flory, 68, were among seven members of the top echelon of the ring. Six have been arrested, and warrants have been issued for one more, said Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz.[...]Developing….(h/t slwlion)
"At this point it looks purely coincidental" that two of the top members were academics, said police Lt. William Roseman.
Schultz emphasized that the investigation had just started and that human trafficking and racketeering charges were possible.
Members of the site paid from $200 for a sex act to $1,000 for a full hour of time, Roseman said. The prostitutes were paid in cash by the clients, not through the site, police said.
Garcia was part of the "hunt club," whose job was to look for new prostitutes for the site known as Southwest Companions, said police. Police declined to release an age range for the women.

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) A 60-ish physics professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, David Flory, has been arrested for allegedly running an online prostitution ring in New Mexico.
Reportedly, Flory's website managed 200 women who provided prostitution services to more than 1,200 male customers.
Flory holds a master's degree from Columbia University and a doctorate from Yeshiva University.A hobby, eh? I bet. Flory was booked into custody with bail set at $100,000.
He had a vacation home in Santa Fe, but ran a website called Southwest Companions from his home in New York, his vacation home in Santa Fe, and even from a school computer, reports say.
Flory told police he did not make any money off the website and saw it as more of a "hobby."
