Indiana Teach Sentenced for Sex with Student - Update

(Winchester, Indiana) Yesterday, 39-year-old former teacher Shannon J. Woodson pleaded guilty to two counts of child seduction, a Class D felony.

As a result, Woodson was sentenced to three years home detention.

Questioned by her defense attorney, B. Joseph Davis, Woodson acknowledged she and the teen began exchanging text messages soon after the 2010-11 school year ended.

“Things ramped up, and you actually had sexual intercourse?” Davis asked.

“Yes,” Woodson responded.

Randolph Superior Court Judge Peter Haviza accepted the terms of a plea agreement calling for Woodson to receive the three-year sentence, to be served on home detention.

Woodson must surrender her teaching license and register as a sex offender.

(Winchester, Indiana) A 36-year-old teacher at Greater Randolph Interlocal Cooperative, Shannon J. Woodson, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 17-year-old male student.

Woodson faces a charge of felony child seduction.

When asked, officers said, the teen told them he had been in a sexual relationship with Woodson throughout the summer, and had also used marijuana and drunk alcohol with her at her apartment.

Officers also said Woodson admitted to the sexual relationship and the drug use.

Woodson was booked into custody. No bond amount reported.
