(Stillwater, Oklahoma) A 46-year-old department financial assistant at Oklahoma State University, Cynthia Shirleen Low, has been accused of embezzling $80,000 of university funds and spending the money on shopping sprees.
Purchases named as 'lab equipment' in university records were in reality items such as a DVD player, an underwater puzzle and booty shorts.Low has resigned her position with OSU. No trial date has been reported.
She spent $2,300 on sex toys, lingerie and other clothing, $530 on makeup and $284 on video games and DVDs, including one on how to lose weight.
She allegedly bought four sex toys from Amazon.com and marked them as computer supplies in university logs.
Low, who was supposed to use the taxpayer-funded credit card to buy laboratory and office supplies, was ordered to trial during a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
