(Freehold, New Jersey) Originally charged in 2009, a former teacher at the Rugby School in Wall NJ, Brandi E. Shroyer, has pleaded guilty in accordance with an agreement to criminal sexual contact with a 16-year-old male student.
Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said the state will recommend Shroyer receive a 364-day jail sentence as a condition of probation, as well as register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law at the consent of the victim and his family.Formal sentencing by Superior Court Judge Lisa P. Thornton is scheduled for November 16.
Shroyer was employed as a teacher’s aide and clinical assistant for 1½ years at the school. She used her position to develop a relationship with the victim, which eventually turned sexual, authorities said.
She was fired after her June 2009 arrest, and she has not been employed by a school since, Gramiccioni said.
