Florida Woman Accused in Death of Newborn

(Fort Lauderdale, Florida) A 33-year-old local woman, Alexandria Sladon-Marler, has been accused of aggravated manslaughter and child neglect in the death of her newborn son.

Sladon-Marler visited the hospital complaining of bleeding from an abortion, however, doctors didn't believe her story. They told police it appeared that Sladon-Marler had given birth.

Consequently, the motel where Sladon-Marler had been staying since June was searched.

Police found the body of the baby boy in a pillow case which had been tossed into a dumpster at the motel.

Court records show an autopsy revealed the infant had air in his lungs, an indication he was born alive.

Sladon-Marler was booked into custody at the Broward County Jail.
