Friends of Julian Assange

Julian Assange

(London, England) Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy evading extradition to Sweden where he faces sexual assault charges.

Assange has been free on £200,000 (USD $317,000) bail since December 2010.

Since Assange breached the conditions of his release by seeking political asylum in Ecuador, the bail money will be forfeited.

Here are the friends of Assange who will lose their contributions to his bail.
Former Professor Tricia David, £20,000,

Nobel prize-winning biologist Sir John Sulston, £20,000,

Journalist Philip Knightley, £20,000,

Lady Caroline Evans, £20,000,

Catering manager Sarah Saunders, £20,000,

Frontline Club founder Captain Vaughan Smith, £20,000,

Environmental campaigner Marchioness Tracy Worcester, £10,000,

Wikileaks assistant Joseph Farrell, £5,000,

Wikileaks assistant Sarah Harrison, £5,000, and

Socialite Jemima Khan, Journalist John Pilger, Film director Ken Loach and Publisher Felix Dennis who contributed a total of £60,000.
District Judge Riddle ordered the forfeiture of funds on the basis that there is no indication Assange would surrender to UK authorities.

Frankly, I'd suggest people avoid solicitations of friendship from Julian Assange.
