(Naco, Arizona) Early yesterday morning, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, 30-year-old Nicholas Ivie, was killed by gunfire in an apparent ambush.
Along with another agent, who was wounded, Ivie was checking a motion sensor in the vicinity of the US-Mexico border.
The agents were assigned to the Naco station, which was recently renamed in honor of Brian Terry, who was slain in a shootout with border bandits in December 2010 near Nogales. That shooting was later linked to the Fast and Furious gun-smuggling operation run by federal agents in Phoenix.Ivie is survived by his wife and two young girls.
Rest in peace.
