Florida Teacher Jailed for Sex with Minor - Update
(St. Augustine, Florida)
A former St. Johns County substitute teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student was sentenced on one count of felony battery on Wednesday.Slamka was also ordered to serve five years of probation.
Judge Michael Traynor handed Stacy Slamka, 49, of St. Augustine, a sentence of 300 days in the St. Johns County jail with a few other restrictions.
The judge ordered Slamka to continue counseling and to give up her teaching certificate. He also denied her permission to be on St. Johns County School property.
Traynor forbade her from attending her children’s school functions unless the victim in the case was not present. She was also approved for work release.

(St. Augustine, Florida) A 49-year-old substitute teacher formerly with St. Johns County schools, Stacey Slamka, has been accused of engaging in sex with a minor.
Slamka faces six criminal counts.
The school district tells Action News it discovered she was sending inappropriate text messages to a student in March of 2012. She was immediately removed and later terminated.Arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
Slamka worked at Gaines Transitional, Gamble Rodgers Middle, Murray Middle, Pedro Menendez High, St. Augustine High and St. Johns Technical High, according to school records.
The teacher turned herself into authorities in Alachua County.
