California Sex-Offender Teacher Released Early - Update

A former Redlands Unified School District teacher convicted of having sex with underage students has been released from jail.It's presumed that Whitehurst was released early so she could care for her student-sired offspring.
Jail records show Laura Whitehurst, 29, of Redlands, was released from jail on Sunday more than six months before her jail sentence was to be completed.

Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst, 28, will spend the next year behind bars, and was also sentenced to five years of probation and a lifetime registration as a sex offender.[...]Sad case all around, I think.
Her attorney James Gass told reporters outside the court that she wanted to retain custody of her baby girl, who she gave birth to on Jun. 18.

(Redlands, California) A 28-year-old teacher at Citrus Valley High School, Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 16-year-old male student who allegedly fathered her child.
Whitehurst faces a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
The sexual relationship allegedly began last summer and continued for nearly a year.Whitehurst was booked into custody and released $25,000 bail.
“They met approximately a year ago and started talking away from school and developed a relationship there. One thing led to another and he ended up at her residence and it’s been going on for about a year,” said Cmdr. Shawn Ryan of the Redlands Police Department.
The victim’s mother reported the relationship to school officials, who, in turn, called police on Monday.
