Carolina Teacher Guilty of Inappropriate Behavior - Update

A Conway High School English teacher pleaded guilty Monday after being accused of having an improper relationship with a teenage student.

The teacher was sentenced to two years probation, under the condition that she is to have no contact with the victim, even after he turns eighteen. She can also no longer work as a teacher.

Courtney Ruth Martin stood in court Monday, eyes filled with tears, telling Judge George James and those in the courtroom that she is sorry for her actions and regrets anything she's done to hurt anyone.
Martin was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

(Myrtle Beach, South Carolina) A 26-year-old English teacher at Conway High School, Courtney Ruth Martin, has been accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a 10th-grade student.

Martin faces a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to an incident report, police received an anonymous tip through the Horry County Schools tip line about the alleged inappropriate behavior.

Martin and the student, listed as a 10th grader, planned to have sex, the report said. Martin is also accused of sending photos of body parts, including her breasts, to the student, police.

The student told police he and Martin were involved in a relationship, and said it ended when he texted her to tell her police had questioned him about their involvement, the report said.

He also said met Martin in her classroom during his lunch or after school and said they would “hug, kiss and talk about their relationship,” according to the report.
Martin was booked into custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and released on $5,000 bail.
