Arkansas Woman Gets Probation for Sex with Boy

(Beebe, Arkansas) A 27-year-old local woman, Melissa J. Stevens, has admitted to engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy while substitute teaching.

As a result of a guilty plea to fourth-degree sexual assault, Stevens was sentenced to six years probation.

Police in Beebe say they got a call in December from a 15-year-old boy who said he'd had sex with Stevens in a home.

A sheriff's detective says she spoke with a different 15-year-old boy who confirmed that the encounter happened at his house.

Stevens must also register as a sex offender and pay a $1,000 fine.
