Tennessee Ex-Teacher Faces Meth Charges
(Nashville, Tennessee) Yesterday, A 36-year-old former teacher at Alex Green Elementary School, Monica Adkins, was arrested in connection with a methamphetamine lab explosion, just three months after she was charged with making the drug in the same house.
Adkins faces counts of meth manufacturing and trespassing.
Adkins admitted that she was in her house on Illinois Avenue when flames broke out around 11 p.m., according to her arrest warrant. Adkins was arrested on meth charges this May when investigators found a lab in the home, which was put under quarantine until it could be decontaminated.Adkins was booked into custody with bond set at $80,000.
Investigators found Adkins early Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was being treated for severe burns to her hands. She confirmed that she was a meth user, according to the warrant.
