Utah Mom Arrested for Methamphetamine

(Orem, Utah) A 37-year-old local mother, Michelle Barrett, has been arrested after her 3-year-old daughter tested positive for methamphetamine.

Barrett faces counts of endangerment of a child and possession of methamphetamine.

Police were alerted after Michelle Barrett, 37, took her daughter to the hospital for a head injury, and staff found her blood tested positive for the drug.

“She had used methamphetamine in her house while her daughter was there,” said Sgt. Craig Martinez of the Orem Police. “There’s also a possibility she could have ingested meth as it was lying on the woman’s bed.”

Barrett told the police that she is a regular meth user.
