Parents Lose House
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) The Sourovelis family has lost their home.
The nightmare began when police showed up at the house and arrested their 22-year-old son, Yianni, on drug charges -- $40 worth of heroin. Authorities say he was selling drugs out of the home. The Sourvelises say they had no knowledge of any involvement their son might have had with drugs.Seems a bit extreme to me.
A month-and-a-half later police came back -- this time to seize their house, forcing the Sourvelises and their children out on the street that day. Authorities came with the electric company in tow to turn off the power and even began locking the doors with screws, the Sourvelises say. Authorities won't comment on the exact circumstances because of pending litigation regarding the case.

They take drug dealer's property in Ohio too, but I've yet to hear of a family kicked out.
Even the raid I witnessed passing by a year ago, the home has been rerented, but by who?
The cops, doubt it, more likely the owner.
Small Texas town used to stop people for no reason, take everything, not anymore.
If it is legit, so be it. I would like to see that the police force doesn't gain from it, directly, or the state which would be indirect and kickbacks to the department would be expected. Save for the cost of the sale, minus just a bit so that the process is actually a slight cost (goes to motive), put the money into drug prevention programs that prove themselves by actually lowering the risk in high risk areas. Oh, and have these cases go through random federal courts for oversight.
Anyone who doesn't realize drugs are being dealt out of their home, if that honestly was the case, are either lying, or avoiding reality. If they are going to fight a war on drugs, they aren't going to win by being nice, pleasant, forgiving, or such. The problem I see is that with them getting the loot, there is too great of an incentive to take what isn't rightfully to be taken.
