Connecticut Teacher Accused of Sex Assault

(Danbury, Connecticut) A 24-year-old high school teacher, Kayla Mooney, has been accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a male student.

Mooney faces counts of second-degree sexual assault and distributing alcohol to a minor.

Mooney, 24, of Danbury, turned herself into police headquarters at 5 p.m. Tuesday following a seven-week investigation.[…]

"We are all very disappointed that this has happened to one of our faculty members," said Sal Pascarella, the superintendent of the city's schools.

Pascarella did not provide details about the incident, except that it happened off campus late last year.

Mooney was released without bail. A court appearance is scheduled for April 14.
