7th-Graders "Come Out" to Bisexual Teacher

(New York) A 32-year-old self-proclaimed bisexual seventh-grade teacher at Columbia Secondary School, Chance Nalley, will be united to a man in a same-sex civil commitment ceremony on April 4.

Nalley invited all his students and their parents to witness his commitment to another man.

Remarking on the situation, Frank Russo of the American Family Association said,
"For a teacher to invite his students -- seventh graders, typically 12-years-old, possibly 13 -- to attend a gay marriage is mind-boggling to me that he would do that." [...]

When asked if they were surprised he was "gay," a handful of students noted he was bisexual, not gay. One student added that his coming out to them "showed he trusts us."

Interestingly enough, Nalley says six of his students have "come out" to him this year.
Reportedly, Nalley teaches math, science and engineering to seventh-graders and the subject of sexual orientation is apparently part of or happens into the curricula. Oddly, my recollections of seventh-grade include absolutely nothing about human sexuality. Obviously, I was deprived of the opportunity to "come out" at the age of 12.
