(Skowhegan, Maine) Last October, a Somerset County grand jury indicted 25-year-old Jessica Bowring on three counts of gross sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy. On Wednesday, Bowring pleaded guilty to one count of gross sexual assault but not the other two.
From MaineToday.com:
The plea was unusual because it was not part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. That means 25-year-old Jessica L. Bowring still faces trial on two counts of gross sexual assault, tampering with a witness, terrorizing and two counts of violating her conditions of release. It's unclear what Bowring is trying to do. It is clear, though, that she's doing a pretty good job of screwing up her life and the lives of her several children. And, that's over and above what she did to the 13-year-old boy.
Normally, a defendant pleads guilty only after reaching an agreement that typically limits jail time. Bowring could be sentenced later this month to as many as 30 years in jail for the crime to which she pleaded guilty Wednesday. She is scheduled to go to trial this month on the other charges.
Bowring is currently out of jail on bail with conditions. She is on house arrest at the home of a family friend and she is prohibited from owning or using a computer.
[Update 01/27/06]

[Update 12/16/07]
