Woman Kills Kids, Ruled Insane

(San Francisco, California) On October 19, 2005, 24-year-old Lashuan Harris undressed her three children, one by one, and threw them into the cold water of San Francisco Bay.

Six-year-old Trayshaun Harris, two-year-old Taronta Greeley Jr. and 16-month-old Joshua Greeley drowned. Only the body of Trayshaun Harris was ever found.

After six weeks or so of trial, a San Francisco Superior Court jury found Harris guilty of second-degree murder. Judge Kay Tsenin quickly acted to overturn the jury's verdict and ruled that Harris was not guilty by reason of insanity. A determination will be made on February 7 on which hospital will treat Harris.

Defense attorney Teresa Caffese said afterward that it was obvious the mental health system shared blame for the deaths of the children because insufficient help was given to Harris. Now, according to Harris' family, Lashuan will get the help she needs.

Help for six-year-old Trayshaun Harris, two-year-old Taronta Greeley Jr. and 16-month-old Joshua Greeley was apparently not a consideration in the final ruling.

By the way, I understand that Andrea Yates, who murdered her five young children by drowning them in the bathtub, is now getting the help she needs. Also, Susan Smith, who strapped her two young boys in car seats before letting her vehicle roll into a lake and drown them, is also getting the help she needs.

Don't let it be suggested that the American justice system isn't helpful.
