New Charges in Teacher-Student Sex Case

(Glenwood Springs, Colorado) In December 2006, English teacher at Elizabeth High School, Darcie Esson, was arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 17-year-old student, a school football player.

Esson was charged with felony sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust and released on $25,000 bail.

Later in December, Esson retained the representation of high-profile lawyer Pamela Mackey who previously defended LA Laker basketball star Kobe Bryant in a rape case.

In the latest development, 33-year-old Esson faces new charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and alleged sexual assault with a pattern of abuse. Prosecuting attorney Martin Beeson refused to elaborate on the new charges other than saying they resulted from information uncovered on May 11th.

Esson has a court appearance scheduled for June 19th.

[Update 06/20/07]

Esson pleads guilty.
