Russians Ban Jury Trials for Terrorists

How strange.

About the same time that the U.S. is preparing to give accused terrorists full access to the American judicial system with all its constitutional guarantees, the Russian State Duma passes legislation to ban jury trials for terrorism and other crimes.

Ominously, the Russians also banned jury trials for people accused of involvement in illegal armed units, violent seizure of power, armed rebellion and mass riots.

Critics believe that the government may use the power to prosecute people who take part in rallies.
