Jennifer Bagley Violates Probation, Gets Prison - Updated

(Smith County, Texas) After completing her six months in jail on February 24, 2008, Jennifer Elizabeth Bagley was released to begin serving her two concurrent 10-year terms of probation.

Unfortunately, in October Bagley was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender which was a condition of her original judgment. As a consequence,
On Thursday, Ms. Bagley admitted to violating the terms and conditions of her probation and was sentenced to 10 years in prison on each of the two charges.

She also pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced by Skeen [241st District Judge Jack Skeen Jr.] to 15 years in prison. Because of the plea agreement, the defendant will serve the sentences at the same time and will be eligible for parole after serving five years.
It appears that Bagley failed to recognize that her original sentence was extremely lenient and that the consequences of violating her probation were potentially quite harsh. Either that or she is a moron.

Teacher Bagley Gets Probation for Sex with Girl
[Previous 1/24/08 post]
(Tyler, Texas) In May 2007, teacher Jennifer Elizabeth Bagley was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student in 2004.

She was charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student. Two separate cases would be presented to the court to adjudicate the charges.

In August 2007, Bagley was convicted by a Smith County jury on the charge of improper relationship between educator and student. Then 241st District Judge Jack Skeen Jr. sentenced Bagley to 10 years probation with six months to be served in the Smith County Jail.

Notably, Bagley testified during the penalty phase and vehemently denied she did anything wrong and claimed her victim was a liar.
Ms. Bagley, who said she was bisexual, said "I haven't had sex with no students. ... I haven't given any students or children drugs."
In the second case, 36-year-old Bagley pleaded guilty this week to sexual assault of a child involving the same victim.
The victim, now 19 and a prison guard, testified in August that she was a 16-year-old junior at Bullard High School on Oct. 26, 2004, when she and her substitute, Ms. Bagley, began a sexual affair that lasted for more than a year. She said she and Ms. Bagley had sex 15-20 times, and the teacher also gave her marijuana, alcohol and other drugs.

Ms. Bagley frequently told her, "If I go down, you're going down with me," she said.
Evidently, there has been a significant change in Bagley and she's no longer talking of going down. At some point between last August and now, Bagley discovered the error of her ways, acknowledged her guilt and now seeks redemption.

For the guilty plea on the charge of sexual assault of a child, Judge Skeen sentenced Bagley to 10 years probation, to be served concurrently with the other 10-year probation sentence. Bagley's six months in the county jail concludes on February 24. After her release, she will be required to register as a sex offender.

In summary, Bagley ends up doing six months in jail for a long-term homosexual relationship with a student. I'd speculate that if Bagley were a guy, the sentence would be more like 20, maybe 30, years in prison.
