(Appleton, Wisconsin) Yesterday, Lacy Sommers was sentenced by Judge Michael Gage to prison for bail-jumping.
She will serve 18 months in prison on two bail-jumping charges, followed by two years on extended supervision. The status of the two offspring has not been reported. Nevertheless, I suspect that Lacy Sommers' name will pop up in future news. She seemingly can't stay out of trouble.
Gage also sentenced the 20-year-old to six years of incarceration and six years of extended supervision on a count of repeated sexual assault of a child.
That sentence was stayed. Instead of prison, Sommers will serve 10 years on probation and an additional year in jail after she's released from the bail-jumping prison sentence.
Wisconsin Woman Pleads No Contest in Child Sex Case - Updated
[Previous 9/2/09 post]
(Appleton, Wisconsin) Earlier today 20-year-old Lacy L. Sommers pleaded no contest to bail jumping and repeated sexual assault of a child who, incidentally, is being identified as a 13-year-old.
In exchange for her plea, "prosecutors intend to ask for no more than eight to 10 years of prison." Sommers will also have to surrender custody of her children fathered by the boy.
The plea deal wraps up three separate cases. Sommers initially was charged in October with repeated sexual assault of a child after she became pregnant by the New London boy and gave birth to a son.Sentencing has been scheduled for October 19.
She was arrested April 30 and charged with bail jumping for violating her bond because authorities said she had ongoing contact with the boy, now 14.
She then admitted she was 20 weeks pregnant by the same father and was subsequently charged with new bail-jumping and sexual assault charges.
Woman Twice Pregnant in Child Sex Case

(Appleton, Wisconsin) Pregnant again allegedly by a 14-year-old boy, a Hortonville woman, Lacy Sommers, 20, faces additional sexual assault charges even though her trial on the first set of sexual assault charges filed last October hasn't occurred.
She was arrested again May 1 on charges of repeated sexual assault of a child and bail jumping involving contact with the boy, who lives in New London.Sommers has a court appearance scheduled for July 28.
"What we have to do is we have to protect the victim in this case, that's what our job is," said Sergeant Eugene Bunnell of the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department.
According to court documents the boy knew Lacy Sommers because she lived with his family. The boy told police he got along well with Sommers and they began dating in September of 2007.
Investigators say Sommers told them "She knew she was not supposed to have contact" with the boy. However, she said, "She loves him."
According to the complaint, the boy's mother knew about the relationship, but she told investigators, "She did not do anything to prevent the contact."
Bunnell won't say if the boy's mother will be investigated for not reporting the contact to police.
