Police Dept. Domain Name Expires

(Bluff City, Tennessee) After a local resident, Brian McCrary, received a speeding citation from a speed camera set up by the Bluff City Police Department, he went to its website for more information. Instead, Mr. McCrary found that the BCPD had allowed its domain name to expire.
McCrary bought it.

Bluff City Police Chief David Nelson said they operated the site through godaddy.com. He said the person who typically kept up with annual payments is out on medical leave, and after a virus struck his department in December, Nelson had to change their police department e-mail address. This mean they never got expiration notices from godaddy.com.

McCrary took the opportunity to share his message: “I thought it’d be a good idea to share some information that public doesn’t normally see about the speed cameras, such as the fact that they are just a civil violation; they don’t count against your driver’s license or anything like that.“
McCrary decided to post links to information sources on the website. Actually, McCrary could have been a lot nastier if he wanted by posting porn or something similar. In any event, Chief Nelson has filed a complaint with godaddy.com.
