Teacher Accused of Racial Insensitivity

(Waterbury, Connecticut) Kathleen Pyles, math teacher at North End Middle School, has been placed on leave for allegedly making insensitive racial comments to students.

School officials are investigating.

The investigation was sparked by parents who contend that Pyles referred to a sixth grader as "black boy" when she could not remember his name, according to one parent who filed a complaint.
