This story relates how an Air France pilot joked about blowing up a plane while his luggage set off alarms on the security-screening machine.
"During the course of their inspection, the pilot made several comments which included references to the airplane blowing up, him blowing up and the story ending up on the front page of the New York Times," Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Amy von Walter told the New York Post.Cancellation of the flight caused considerable disruption of travel plans for 270 people, some being rerouted and others having to stay overnight. The article also mentions:
"Our screeners followed standard operating procedure and notified Port Authority police," she added.
The incident mirrored another on Aug. 8, when Air France co-pilot Philippe Riviere was arrested for allegedly telling TSA screeners he had explosives in his shoes. Riviere was charged with filing a false report and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. My comment is that these two incidents perfectly illustrate the attitude displayed by the entire French government and people. Terrorism is a joke to them. Measures taken to combat terrorism are jokes. The French feel morally superior and justified in being cavalier and blase toward terrorism. I might as well throw in anti-semitism which they also think is a joke. They don't even recognize that it exists.
And, they are wrong. Again.
