Consistent with previous posts, here and here, concerning human trafficking in the newly democratized Eastern European nations, is this story from the Czech Republic.
Czech police have raided more than 400 premises across the country in their biggest operation ever against human trafficking and forced prostitution.Thousands of East Europeans from Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and the Ukraine work in the sex industry in the Czech Republic and at least 20 of the organizers have been arrested and charged with human trafficking and pimping.
Almost 5,000 policemen were involved in storming night clubs, brothels and other premises on Friday night.
The Czech Republic is due to enter the European Union next year and wants to project a trustworthy and non-threatening image to the rest of the EU membership.
