Cannibal 'Assisted Death'
(Kassel, Germany) On March 10, 2001, Armin Meiwes, a 42-year-old computer technician, killed Bernd Juergen Brandes, a 43-year-old Berlin engineer. And, then he ate him. Meiwes admits that he killed Brandes and is currently on trial for murder in Kassel County Court. However, he maintains he is innocent because Brandes wanted to die.
I don't buy the suicide by knife and fork defense myself, but readers can follow the links and decide for themselves. The gruesome details are interesting if they don't turn one's stomach.
My comment concerning this case is that German law enforcement agencies were totally in the dark about this crime with absolutely no leads. Meiwes, however, helped them out by going on the Internet several months later and tried to lure another weak-minded moron into his kill and consume perversion. A student in Austria read some of his sick emails, notified the authorities, and Meiwes was arrested.
If Meiwes used the Internet to lure Brandes, I'm fairly confident that at least several people knew of his perversion prior to the murder.
[Update 10/23/07]
Meiwes gives interview -- said human flesh tastes like pork.
