Former Senator Paul Simon Dies

(via Outside The Beltway) Former US Senator Paul Simon of Illinois died today. Yesterday he underwent heart surgery at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Simon was a bespectacled, slightly rumpled man with a strong reputation for honesty, a politician who began disclosing his personal finances in the 1950s.
I couldn't encapsulate my impression better. As a conservative, it's not frequent that I have anything nice to say about a Democrat. Paul Simon was a well-respected, professional public servant. He exuded honesty and goodwill. America needs more politicians just like him, regardless of party.

Senator Simon was 75.
