(Columbus, Ohio) By a Senate vote of 25-8 and a House vote of 69-24, the Ohio Legislature will allow Ohioans to carry concealed weapons. Governor Taft has indicated that he will sign the bill into law. Provisions of the legislation are:
1) Permit and fee payment required,Signing of the bill should occur in the next few days.
2) Background check required,
3) Weapons training required, and
4) Names of permit holders must be accessible to reporters who make a request to the Sheriff's office.
My take is simple. It's about time that everyone agreed on this issue. It should have been resolved ages ago. Of note is that Ohio is not the last state to adequately address the issue of concealed carrying of weapons. For example, I know that Wisconsin is still juggling the issue.
