Internet Blamed for Murder

According to this story, Graham Coutts, 35, had a seven-year addiction to Internet pornography which led to his strangling special needs teacher Jane Longhurst with a pair of tights. A jury deliberated for nine hours and 10 minutes before sentencing Coutts to 30 years in prison. After the verdict,

Miss Longhurst's family called for tighter regulation on the kind of pornographic internet sites used by Coutts.

Blaming the Internet is an understandable, reflexive response but probably not provable. Unfortunately, heinous sexual crimes were regularly committed before the Internet and, if the Internet didn't exist, they still would occur.
